PTSD and Meditation: How To Make It Easier

February 15, 2013 Michele Rosenthal

On my journey to PTSD recovery, one of the first distress techniques that my therapist taught me was meditation. When he suggested it, my first thought was, "You've got to be kidding me!"

My mind and body were always racing, how was I supposed to slow down far and long enough to meditate?

One Simple Meditation Trick

If you've heard about meditation, you might be thinking that you have to, well, stop thinking in order to be effective. Actually, that's not the case.

Meditation is all about focus. The tip offered in the ptsd video on meditation below will help you learn to wrangle your mind and create a sense of stillness. This can help you begin to really utilize meditation as an extremely effective tool in cutting down the high anxiety state of PTSD.

Meditation is all about focus.--this is so true. One yogic said " Your mind is not taking instructions from you, your energy is not taking instructions from you; they are doing their own things.", and I believe it (quote taken from http://www.sadhguruonline.com/quotes/)
