A Mentally Healthy Perspective Can Influence Your Mental Illness
Having a mentally healthy perspective is important. It's a new year, and that lends itself to reflection. Whether 2015 was kind, brutal, or somewhere in between depends largely on your perspective (Putting Mental Illness In Perspective). So having a healthy perspective is important. So how do we have a mentally healthy perspective?
How a Mentally Healthy Perspective Helps
I remember a commercial featuring several Haitians reading what we would call "First World problems:" a man standing outside a mud hut announcing "I hate how my house is so big I require two WiFi signals" was particularly striking. The commercial has a point--many times our problems are not as serious as they appear. Our perspective helps us see this.
Make it your New Year's resolution to have a mentally healthy perspective (How To Make New Year's Resolutions You Can Stick To). Practice looking at what went right and what didn't go wrong. Perspective can influence our psychiatric symptoms, so having a mentally healthy perspective is crucial to our wellbeing.
