Dissociative Identity Disorder: After Integration

October 24, 2010 Holly Gray

In treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder (previously classified as Multiple Personality Disorder) since 1992, Sarah E. Olson fully integrated more than fifty alters. "Integration doesn't make your life instantly healed," says Sarah, author of Becoming One: A Story of Triumph Over Multiple Personality Disorder and the Third of a Lifetime blog.

"It just means you deal with abuse issues -- and ordinary life -- from a unified perspective." Sarah discusses Dissociative Identity Disorder on this week's HealthyPlace Mental Health Radio Show, and reveals the surprising truth about life after integration.

I completed integrated 2 years ago. I have had 45 alters. I am now only one. The journey after integration has been challenging but rewarding.
