About Kendra Sebelius, Author of Debunking Addiction Blog
Hi! I am Kendra Sebelius and welcome to my addiction blog. I am a mental health advocate in recovery from numerous eating disorders, substance abuse struggles, anxiety disorders as well as self-harm. I have been sober and in recovery for several years now, and work to create awareness of co-morbidities in the mental health field. I founded Voice in Recovery, a place to advocate for awareness of eating disorders and body image struggles, and found the more I shared my story and my struggle with addiction, more people came to me sharing their stories. I use my voice to help give hope to others who struggle - that there is a way out of the darkness. I never thought I would be able to be sober, live a full life, while being able to handle all that life brings and throws at me. I am honest and open to my story, my journey and hope that helps others find their voice.
Debunking Addiction Blog Welcome Video
My Hope for the Debunking Addiction Blog
Addiction is a hard topic. By sharing some of my story and the lessons I have learned along the way, maybe I can help you. I love being a voice, but I am no way the only voice, and I welcome and encourage people to create dialogues with me. No topic is off limits, and no addiction is either. Although I've struggled with alcohol abuse, on the Debunking Addiction blog, I'll be discussing addiction in general as well.
On a Personal Note
I love road trips, good books, baths, listening to music, journaling, making jewelry, and finding new ways at being healthy in body, mind and spirit. I am goofy, shy to new people, but once I get to know a person, I open up and won’t stop talking! I am opinionated (I blame the Scorpio in me!) but always open. Welcome aboard.

Hi Kendra: I'm bipolar and alcoholic - in recovery 10 years - so I'll be interested in your take on addiction. I am in AA and hold the unpopular view that alcoholism is not a disease - or addiction - but a character disorder. Good luck with your blog! Alistair
Hi Alistair and thank you for the kind welcome!! I welcome all views! I think different views are what help create important discussions so thank you for your support! Look forward to hearing your thoughts in the future. Kendra
