Bipolar Guilt and Shame
Have you heard people talk about bipolar guilt and shame? It’s the guilt felt when living with bipolar disorder and it can be quite overwhelming. The empathetic side of us intensifies these deep feelings of guilt. These intense emotions, especially during a period of depression or mania, cause us to beat ourselves up with negative thoughts and self-hate.
I deal with bipolar guilt and shame on a daily basis; some days are more extreme than others. In this video, I share my experience as a person living with bipolar 2 disorder and some of the ways I have learned to cope with this challenge.
One thing I’ve come to understand is that other people’s perspective on mental health is out of my control. This is something I had to accept to move forward with my life. Establishing a strong foundation built on self-love and acceptance helps to reduce the guilt that comes with living with bipolar 2 disorder.
How do you experience bipolar guilt? Please share your experience or do a response video and send it in to info@healthyplace.com. Thanks! See you next week!
