First Annual Bring Your Wing Nut To Work Day A Hit!

April 2, 2013 Alistair McHarg

Some of you may remember when “Bring Your Daughter To Work Day” was rolled out. This innocuous exercise in low-grade social engineering was intended to introduce young girls to the entire spectrum of work in order to free them from the socially imposed blinders which psychologically limited their career options to a gruesome choice between homemaker, secretary and waitress.

Apparently it worked. Today there are more women in the workforce than men, and, not unspurprisingly, one might travel many a kilometer of rough gravel today before encountering a homemaker, secretary, or waitress.

So, let’s take heart as we consider that those who strategize and implement our social evolution, them, the powers that be, the hands behind the curtain, those unnamed unknown unseen Machiavellian magicians do in fact know what they are doing because they have our best interests at heart or so I keep telling myself.

Can lightning strike twice? Social scientists are betting that it will with the introduction of “Bring Your Wing Nut To Work Day”. This ambitious exercise in mainstreaming actually works in direct contraposition to Bring Your Daughter To Work Day.

Where BYDTWD was intended to benefit daughters by exciting their imaginations regarding career possibilities open to them, Bring Your Wing Nut To Work Day is intended to help the nation’s allegedly sane workforce by exposing it to upwardly mobile wing nuts who, by dint of facing and defeating mental illness, are better equipped to manage the complex hazards of today’s work environment than the average running dog lackey of the petite bourgeoisie.

The first Annual “Bring Your Wing Nut To Work Day” was held yesterday, April 1, 2013, and while it is too soon to speak authoritatively about the impact, preliminary findings are positive. Chumley Frampton, pictured here, President & CEO of Enigma Ink, Inc. put it like this. “Anthony Entwhistle, our V.P. of Marketing, brought in his son, Inspector Onions, and I must say, I have learned a great deal from him. Inspector Onions is a Wing Nut, that’s for sure, but he taught me a few things I’ll never forget. Of course, that won’t stop me from trying.”

Hi Alistair :) I was a homemaker for quite awhile, and am proud to have been among them! As for BYWTWD, I found it to be shocking at how many workers claimed to be sane when clearly they were not. This brings me hope that I can somewhat navigate through the teaching profession while still remaining true to my Wing Nut status. As for being upwardly mobile...
