Child Development Institute was founded by
Doctor Robert Myers. Dr. Myers is a Clinical Child Psychologist with
20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, families
and parents. Realizing the unlimited potential of the Internet to
provide useful information to parents, he decided to utilize this
method to provide parent education that is current, relevant and
easy to attain. Also, the amount of materials such as books, tapes,
games and computer software available to parents for parent
education and to provide self-help for their children and teenagers
has grown exponentially. The Child Development Institute Resource
Center provides a select set of materials that have been found to be
beneficial. When fully developed, the center will provide "one
stop shopping" for parents.
Working with students, teachers and schools
as a consultant for over 20 years, Dr. Myers has developed a number
of programs that have proven to be successful in helping children
with various learning problems. These programs along with consulting
services are now available to schools across the nation through the
Child Development Institute.
Dr. Myers has also developed programs that
provide clinically excellent yet cost effective treatment for
various behavioral, emotional and educational disorders affecting
children and teens. These programs are now available to physicians,
medical groups, HMOs and managed care companies through the Child
Development Institute.
Finally, the Child Development Institute
will begin a research program to find effective community based
solutions for various problems affecting youth. As a result of this
research, a clearing house will be set up to package these solutions
so that community groups will be able to implement them in their
respective communities. The mass media will be used to help make
citizens aware of the fact that there are solutions to these
problems that are "grass root efforts" and can be
implemented at the community level without government funding..
Doctor Robert Myers earned his Ph.D. from the University
of Southern California. He is a Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed
Marriage, Family, Child Counselor in California. He has been married
for 28 years and has two children, a 24 year old daughter and a 19
year old son. In addition to his 20 years of private practice he has
also held a number of consulting contracts. These have included:
Clinical Director for several youth service inpatient units at
College Hospital and Charter Hospital of Long Beach; Consulting
Psychologist for Miller Children's Hospital at Long Beach Memorial
Medical Center; Clinical Instructor (Pediatrics), UCI College of
Medicine; Adjunct Professor, Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology
at BIOLA University; Director of Mental Health, Universal Care
(HMO); Clinical Director, College Health IPA; Research Consultant
for A Better Way of Learning. He has also provided community
lectures on parenting and other topics. Dr. Myers has been a talk
show host on KIEV and KORG in Southern California. He has also
appeared as a guest on many radio and television talk shows locally
and nationally. He also was a regular columnist for Parents and Kids
Magazine.

owned and operated by
Robert F. Myers, Ph.D. Dr. Myers serves as Editor and Chief of
the site. The web site is funded through sales through the CDI
Store and advertising revenue through the affiliate programs
represented by advertising placed on various pages.
