Landing On My Feet
It
always seems like I have something to write about here on the last
day of the week.
Actually, I don't have much to write about. That's why I haven't
been here.
The Prozac is working fine and the birth control pills are doing
their thing.
I do feel nervous this morning, and as of late have been chewing
on my lower lip - it has bite marks in it. I've been nervous about
several things lately.
One is that my application for a Section 8 voucher came through,
and I may be moving in another 6 months or so. Or I may get to stay
in my current apartment. Not sure. It's all up in the air.
If I get the Section 8, I want to quit my job and go back to
school. I can't stand what I'm doing right now and I really want to
get my degree in interior design and start working in that field.
I've been trying to save $ for a trip to California in June. I
guess I'm a little nervous about that trip too, I'd be driving there
and staying with my ex-husband. Hopefully everything will work out
ok.
I got pissed at myself for spending $50 on two of those little
wooden models that artists use to render the human form. One of them
is of the female form and one is a fully jointed hand. I am getting
tired of drawing from photographs; I really want to draw nudes
eventually. That is the ultimate drawing challenge.

Watch What You Swallow With That Pill
Experts warn common foods can affect how certain meds are
metabolized
If you're like most folks, remembering that daily dose of
cholesterol medication -- or that heart pill or blood pressure drug
-- is often easier when you take it with a meal.
However, the truth is what you eat at one of those meals could
have some detrimental effects on how a medication works in your
body.
One of the most dangerous combinations involves grapefruit, a
breakfast staple for many.
"Grapefruit juice influences the production of liver enzymes,
which can affect the way certain drugs are metabolized by the body,"
says Michael Coyne, a registered pharmacist and associate vice
president of pharmacy at Staten Island University Hospital in New
York City.
This can cause some drugs to end up in the bloodstream in a
higher concentration than you are prescribed, Coyne explains. With
other drugs, it can inhibit concentration so you don't get the level
of treatment you need.

Powerful
Documentary Films at HealthyPlace.com
Watch four of the most powerful mental health videos you
have ever seen. These are stories about
sexual molestation,
rape,
eating disorders and teens trapped in
abusive relationships.
What makes these mental health films different and so moving is that they
describe the impact of physical and sexual violence and misperceptions on their
victims. And for the most part, these stories are told in the victim's or
sufferer's own words.
You can watch them using your windows media player. We've also set up special
bulletin boards for your feedback.

Parenting Difficult Children
Our topic tonight is "Parenting the Difficult Child." Our guest
is Howard Glasser, M.A., Executive Director of both the Tucson
Center for the Difficult Child and the Children's Success Foundation
and is the author of Transforming the Difficult Child: The Nurtured
Heart Approach.
Mr. Glasser maintains that most ordinary methods of parenting and
teaching inadvertently backfire when applied to ADHD and other
challenging children (like those with Oppositional Defiant Disorder
and Conduct Disorder), despite the best of intentions. Mr. Glasser
says his approach, which he claims achieves great results almost
always without the need for medications or long-term treatment,
works the best.

Help With My Bipolar Son
Maryjohnson62 wrote:
Stanley (my son) is acting so out of control. I try to make him
so to his room so he will have some alone time to calm down and he
freaks out. He starts screaming that he does not want to be locked
up. I was not "locking him up" in anyway shape or form. I told him I
was just giving him a time out. Isolating him from the rest of the
family while he was acting like that. He still freaked out. It was
so bad that I had to use the restraint hold from behind. That is no
easy thing with a 12 year old that is almost as tall as me and
weights 135lbs. I had to hold it for 10 min until he was calm enough
to let go and no be in danger from him lashing out. I now hurt all
over! He says he is afraid that everyone is out to lock him up. He
say that he thinks that everyone he sees is thinking about locking
him up. Now it is time for me to start to get very worried again.
What should I do or am I over reacting?
