The Comforter Network's New Web Page
August 20th, 1999
The Comforter Network (TCN) is proud to announce that they
have obtained their own domain on the world wide web and moved our web site to
this new location: http://www.comforternetwork.org/. Our web site is being
graciously hosted by Hosting Avenue Sales - INetU, Inc.
In addition, they have recently redesigned the site, thanks
to White Rabbit Art and Design donating skills to the project. They have added
some new pages and many online resources and references to aid survivors.
The Comforter Network was founded to provide awareness of
the issue of sexual abuse to the community, as well as a way for survivors to
network with others in the process of healing. TCN is soliciting survivor block
donations in order to make comforters which will then be donated to shelters
and other programs aiding survivors of sexual abuse.
Anyone interested in finding out more about this project is
urged to visit the web site or to send email to:
Kari Beth Krieger: comfort@comforternetwork.org or
Michelle Layfield: admin@comforternetwork.org.
Sparrows' Haven, Inc.
July 19th, 1999
The mission at Sparrows' Haven is to provide an environment
where Christian healing can occur in women with eating disorders. Their
philosophy is to provide patient-centered care that is personal and
Christ-centered. They want to help those who are struggling the most, whether
because of the severity of their eating disorder, or because of other issues,
such as sexual abuse, emotional/physical abuse, depression, bipolar disorder,
OCD, self-mutilation, secondary oppositional disorder, and dissociative
disorder.
They are now ready to buy property and start the design process for the
Sparrows' Haven treatment community. Unexpectantly, a wonderful property with
68 wooded acres, a house, and a maintenance building has come up for sale. But
to date they have only come up with $315,000, and are $300,000 short to
purchase this property. To make matters more complicated, the foundation
(Sparrows' Haven Foundation, Inc.) has not received tax exempt status yet (it
takes a long time). So they are in a bind, a $300,000 bind and are looking for
donations to help build the center.
If you want to check them out, e-mail
sparrows@net-link.net and they will send you information about the program,
or write:

The Tori Amos Shoe
July 16th, 1999
Designer Steve Madden has created a new shoe called the
Tori Amos. 100% of the proceeds for this shoe will go to RAINN. You can find
additional details about the shoe, another photo, and buying instructions on
the Steve Madden web site. The site includes a message from Tori about the
shoe. The site says that this high, strappy platform wedge was created
especially for Tori Amos. It is available in black, white, and red leather. It
comes in sizes 5-10 (whole sizes only, although half sizes are available
through the Steve Madden stores) The cost is $89. For more details, or to
purchase the shoe, click the banner below.
